None is more famous than Raffles Hotel; which has, by merit of its fine service, become world famous and bears proud testimonial to an honoured name. The courteous, unobtrusive attitude of those who serve you, pleasantly furnished air conditioned rooms and cuisine of international reputation have long combined to make Raffles Hotel renowned to visitors from all over the world. All rooms are with private telephone and bathroom attached and the facilities normally obtainable at the world’s finest hotels are available at Raffles: shops, airline and travel reservation offices, cablegram kiosk, hairdressing salons, safe deposits, etc.
Special features of the Raffles Hotel service which have become particularly famous are the Elizabeth Grill, for superlative food in quiet, harmonious surroundings, and the Palm Court Grill for outdoor dining under the tropical moon. Special facilities fro private parties, wedding receptions, business conferences, etc. can be arranged in the Regency, or Ball room, seating from 25 to 500 persons. September 05 Australian Travel Writer Stu Lloyd and Bonny Wee, our Malacca writer.Stu Lloyd, an Australian Travel Writer, email: captions@bigpond.net.au www.stulloyd.com visited Maritime Archaeology Museum (MAM) today. He spent time touring our little establishment and took several photos meant for his script on Melaka. He shared with me his field of work; where sometime he is paid handsomely approx. AUD$1,200 per submission and that he could receive few cheques within a single month. Other months where he is compiling data’s for book publications, and when he is not traveling, he could be without payments for months.
Next, Bonny Wee, who’d visited MAM some months ago, presented thru his associate a Travel Guide Book entitled simply “Malacca – A Charming Destination” to me. He’d followed his father’s vision of travel journalism and dedicated this booklet to his beloved mother, family members and friends. It’s a 140 page coloured booklet, mainly on the intangible cultural heritage such as the varieties of foods, snacks, refreshments and other delicacies made possible by the various colonial’s influence in Malacca between 1511 to 1957. It is on sale now at RM 20 per.
For any further enquiries on this publication, please email to: purpleprc@yahoo.com
Nevertheless, to both writers, best wishes and happy writing from MAM. Together lets promote Malacca – Melaka, the Cultural Melting Port City Enriched with 600 years of World Shared Heritage!
